Charity Pets & New Pets in Chains of Domination

PET NEWS - BY DRAGONSAFTERDARK
Blizzconline kicked off today, and we received a surprising number of pet-related announcements! Though given they had Jeremy Feasel as the announcer it's not too surprising our WoW companions made an appearance.

1. Charity Pets

First up we have our charity pets!

The charity this year is Doctors Without Borders, and it's going to work a little differently this time. Instead of the traditional, buy a pet and have that available immediately in-game with the proceeds going to the charity, we have two yet unannounced goals to meet so that everyone in the game, whether they donate or not, can receive a pet.

The first goal will get everyone Bananas, a pet previously only available through WoW's Trading Card Game.

The stretch, or secondary, goal will get everyone a new pet: Daisy the Sloth, and her animation will show her hanging on your back.

2. New Pets in Patch 9.1: Chains of Domination

Storyline spoilers aside, we can expect some confirmed new pet models in the next content patch, as well as perhaps some unconfirmed ones slipping into certain screenshots?

2.1 Broker Megadungeon

The new Broker Megadungeon will feature at least three new and confirmed pets.

We have a broker cat, one that looks like a marsuul and a fel rat combined, and a golden worm that the Brokers apparently use as currency and a status symbol.

2.2 Return to the Maw

We're also going to get new rewards in the Maw, most likely in the new areas we're told we'll be getting into. This includes what looks like a gauntletted hand, as well as a pet Jeremy Feasel called the "Minion of Domination" in the top right corner.

2.3 New Zone: Korthia

Though no pets made it into the new zone announcement, I can't help but notice the adorable axolotl-looking pet in the bottom left corner of the promotional image.

In the second image we see another one in a more bluish color, with perhaps another one that moves less like a lizard and more like a small, axolotl raptor.

And that's it for now!

What do you think? Do you like the look of some of the new pets?

How do more Bananas devalue anything? You worked hard for it before, you're not going to resell it, so where is the value actually lost? Bragging rights? Snobbery?

yes, bragging rights and Snobbery. Braggery?

I am just really happy they actually picked a good charity this year. Some are just bloated corporations. This one I donate to despite blizzard's drive. Good show!

I dont understand why be upset: Banana its a generic Monkey with no unique move sets and low poly. Its not so rare or unique. Its a generic monkey pet. I farmed gold to buy it on AH - and my time its more precious than money - in a old fascion way because I am a Collector, just to remove the Pet from my check list. Now, it's for Charity, and you can have it only if we reach the first donation goal, Daisy its for all only if we reach the second goal.
We spend money on clothes that cost half after three months just because we don't want to wait for the sales! We spent money / time because we thought it was worth it ... and this doesn't change.

Any hint when this is going to open for donations? I am ready to throw money at them. I understand the frustration with them devaluing bananas and making it common now. I would feel the same way if they did it to the spectral tiger pet. On the other hand I am torn, because I never thought I would get to own bananas, I even took him off my list on Magpie, because I got depressed seeing the price. (edited)

Currently it just says; "Check back on the official World of Warcraft site in the near future for more details." So nothing yet.

I personally don't mind it being Bananas. I've paid the gold for it, and those who paid money are free to wait to donate until we hit the first goal and only donate toward the stretch goal and the sloth. Or not pay anything at all. If they were giving away a pet that required actual effort, like Baa'l, I could understand the upset. But it's money. There's nothing fantastic about saying; "Hah, I had the money for this and you didn't."

As others have pointed out the pets go with the theme of the charity and where DWB tend to work. My only request, if Blizzard cared to listen, would be that they update the graphics of Bananas.

I agree, this is kind of a slap in the face to avid collectors. It should be 2 new unique pets. Even make an identical copy of bananas but say it's his brother Bononos or something so you don't instantly devalue something that a lot of people paid a lot for.

I don't like the fact that soon everybody - donating or not - will get a Bananas. I have paid RL money to get that specific card and I have been very happy the moment i got it. Bananas had been a rare pet, now it will be more than just common and you can get it even without donating. In addition I really woult like to get that adorable Daisy. But if the stretch goal is not reached, I won't get it even if I myself donate. And sorry, but I don't think my monthly income will be enough to reach that goal on my own.

The Brokers pets I don't like that much, but I really love that lizard-bear-like on the last picture, the big one that walks on the right. It's so cute!

I understand your irritation because I recently purchased Bananas off of the BMAH for quite a pretty penny. I do love the new pets they're currently hinting/showing that are coming soon though; I've been a collector/leveler for a long time now.
