Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

1 / 6

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Kherae wrote on 2021-01-30 00:40:43

meh. seen too many of the ikki+valkyr cheese strat going around (why do you think they nerfed it?). dont like it, boring.
went with my trio of nexus whelplings (p/p, p/b,p/s in that order) on my first attempt. arcane storm and mana surge. deathscreech died with the 2nd whelpling at half hp.

you can also go with nexus whelpling into moonshell crab (p/p. moon tears -> arcane slash), this one is somewhat reliable, as the infected claw is not effective vs aquatic.

another option, and my most reliable thus far: use nexus whelpling (p/p preferrably, arcane storm into mana surge), into an untethered wyrmling (just mana surge). the wyrmling is a magic breed, so the wide damage range of the claw isnt much an issue; damage against it is capped at 1/3 hp. (edited)

ikki+valkyr is a pet combo that is easy to collect for people who aren't big into pet collecting, and worked great on many fights. No reason to bash a strat just because you don't like the combo. Make an additional strat and post it for those that don't want to use that kinda combo.

Gráinne

What pets do you think the experienced strat setters consider first when they decide to make a strat for a site?

Yeah.

The ones everybody already has.

The ones where Breed will not be a problem, since so many people aren't even conscious of what Breed is.

This is good, because people already have the pets to do the strats. This is good, because the creators will see that people are using their strats. This is good, because creators won't get nastygrams from users who don't have the pets or use them wrong. (Actually, they do get nastygrams anyway.)

This is also bad, because it means that too many strategies use the same recycled pets, when in fact most battles can be completed with a wide variety of species. So people get the false idea that only a few pets are "good". What is a fact is that a few pets are all you actually need, at least until you get into Family.

Three Nexuses is also a cheese strat, a lazy strat. Three Starlettes. I showed that all BfA battles except one can be done with Ikky, Starlette, Anklerender / Kneebiter / Footslasher. Meh indeed.

But by all means, if you want to improve the quality and variety of strats on the site, make some of your own. If you want a challenge, use only pets starting with the letter "S" or something. You won't find them very popular, though.

This should have the RNG tag. Tried four times, always so big hits on Ikki, that it died before Flock even started. Only at the last try it worked with some luck...

This does work but with a high chance to fail. Just mend and retry. No NEED for shadow slash first but you can if you want, it gives a smaller chance to win.

My Ikky consistently dies before I can cast Flock. Fortunately, I had a Snowfeather Hatchling just sitting as Pet #3 and used Falcosaur Swarm to actually finish Deathscreech off!

TK

Infected Claw is the problem here. Very wide damage range, so if you get unlucky, Ikky will die. As Flee says, bring another pet with a swarm-type ability, just in case.

Malice wrote on 2018-02-16 14:58:13

Warlock wrote on 2017-08-29 22:52:19

It seems to work sometimes. It failed spectacularly for me the first time, but worked the second. It's highly dependent on what abilities he uses (and things like if he gets crits off). He can pretty much two-shot Ikky though...

Caustick wrote on 2017-09-02 16:47:19

I tried over and over. Ikky does not live long enough to use flock.

Mhoramsgirl wrote on 2017-09-04 12:14:41

I used this strategy with Arcane Eye as third pet. If Ikky doesn't survive, simply bring in Arcane Eye, use Eye Blast then Mana Surge: Deathscreech dies.

fr0z3night wrote on 2017-10-27 21:13:21

About 10+ other strategies if you cant get this one to work.... I'm using the Flying one as my default.

Geki wrote on 2017-12-17 18:54:25

It can fail sometimes because infected claw has a huge, huge damage range. If Ikky is wrecked have another pet with surge of power, predatory strike, etc to bring it down. I use a bloodgazer hatchling. Falcosaur swarm then predatory strike to finish. Makes sure shattered defenses is up when curse goes off.

I started with Shadow Sporebat to build up some dots, then brought in Ikky after he died. Had Mechanical Axebeak as a back-up with decoy + haywire. Worked each of the 5 times I ran it.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-08-30 00:44:03

Used Oily Slimeling (1/1/1) and Arcane Eye (2/2/2) to 2 pet it. Open with expunge, corrosion, and ooze touch until slimeling dies. Mana surge with eye and fight over on 3rd hit.

Animorf wrote on 2017-08-29 23:07:40

Ikky(1/1/1) Bloodgazer Hatchling (1/1/1) Only used 2, brought Teroclaw as backup. Black claw ->flock until ikky dies Falcosaur swarm! and predatory strike for finish
NOTE: RNGwise he got no crits on me but this worked for me the first try
