Pandaria's Master Tamers

Pandaria!
My home and refuge.
Green pastures, rivers filled with fish, mountains to climb and plenty of critters to chase.

Pandaria is where my heart lies, and also where I have the best opportunities to hone my skills! The pet battle system was introduced with Pandaria which explains why this continent hosts more challenges than any other.

Let us begin with the Pandaria Master Tamers
In the beginning there were... pet trainers. Just like you can find them all over Azeroth. There is one in every zone and they pitch level 25 pets against you. The fights are of varying difficulties, but overall not very hard. After you beat them once, they offer a daily quest each and the reward is a Sack of Pet Supplies, but the main reward is the experience you can gain when bringing a small pet along!

This map gives you an overview of the Master and Spirit Tamers locations and suggests a route that you can follow when starting from your factions shrine:

Xu-Fu can scan this section for the most suitable strategies according to your preferences and show the required pets.
Depending on the amount of fights in the section, this can take up to a minute to process.

If you find that No-No for the Beast of Fables questline is phased out, you can fly over to Mogu'shan Palace and speak to Zidormi (coords: 80.5,32 on the balcony outside) and change the timeline.

Updated as of Dragonflight patch 10.2.5. TomTom coordinates for Spirit Tamers and Master Tamers. I did not include Beasts of Fable because they do not offer much pet experience.

Would someone explain what this statement: (The list of required pets can sadly not be displayed right now due to updates Blizzard is making on the armory.
A new version of the tables will be added as soon as possible.) has to do with your list of pets that should or could be used to defeat the tamers and such. A list is a list. to a newbie battler, the list was helpfull and since when has Blizz Armory impacted a list! My recolection is the Armory shows data about toons, what they wear and shows what pets they have, and that shouldn't have any impact on a list. So, in the interim, if shouldnt be too much to put your lists back in to the pages as just that, a list.

The list was based on strats uploaded to the site by Aranesh, before anyone was able to upload a strat. Because Aranesh had control over what strats were uploaded, maintaining a list of what pets were needed for the best strats available was much simpler.

However, now that anyone could upload a potentially better strat, such lists have become obsolete. Your best bet is to link your battle.net to the page, and browse the strats for each fight. If you've linked your battle.net, the strats will let you know which ones you have the pets for (green boxes), which ones you don't have the correct breed / level for (yellow boxes), and which ones you don't have the pets for (red boxes).

Once you find a strat that works well for you based on your roster, favorite that strat (click on the heart). When you favorite a strat, that will be the one that comes up first when you choose a fight.

Your waypoint for Aki is the only thing that's different since she moves for the Visions of N'Zoth timeline. However, anyone who has not unlocked this yet will not see her inside the Seat of Knowledge. They will find her at 31 74.

How do I force a Tom Tom macro likethis to do the waypoints in the order they were written? If I have it add next closest automatically it goes through a different and longer route.

TomTom and/or Blizz changed their syntax again, so here's an update to the update (but thanks Antisceptic for the 1 Jan 2019 update!).

This list assumes you're doing all 21 pet battle dailies: spirits, masters, and Beasts of Fable. Some clever person did the hard work of mathematical optimization (Travelling Salesman Problem). The 8.1.5 (BfA) portal changes don't affect this grand circuit much, as you still need to hit your faction shrine (Two Moons/Seven Stars) in Vale of Eternal Blossoms to pick up the Beasts of Fable dailies.

Anyway, because we're working with a longer order, and not the one in the illo above, that's why you start with Nishi, not Thundering Pandaren Spirit.

/way Kun-Lai Summit 64.8 93.6 Thundering Pandaren Spirit
/way Kun-Lai Summit 67.87 84.69 Dos'Ryga
/way The Jade Forest 28.8 36.0 Whispering Pandaren Spirit

while all the cord comments are very helpful ... Courageous Yon is difficult to find due to being in a hidden cave ...

Courageous Yon - Kun-Lai Summit (Master Tamer)
(if he is so courageous why is he in a super hidden cave?) ... just sayin'

Cave Entrance: /way 35.9, 74.1
Yon: 35.9, 73.6

The cave is near the top of the mountain... a small patch of brown showing in the snow. I hope others find this helpful, as most every time i come out here i circle that dern mountain area around where the mark for Yon is, i know it is slightly below the mark, but depending on what angle you come in at, that cave can be quite tricky to find.

After pasting that into Paste (an addon that allows you to enter several lines at once), TomTom should point you towards Farmer Nishi. Just keep following the arrow, it takes you around Pandaria in a circuit.

The Eternal Strider is a must for Farmer Nishi. You can kill Siren and Toothbreaker with it.

Raduk wrote on 2017-07-04 21:10:50

For Aki you need to use a Hopling because really Stormlash is the big danger. I find if you use a big critter killer, like say Xu-Fu, and switch in the Hopling for Stormlash, you will increase you chance of success by a lot.

I'd like to see a map that includes all of the Pandaria activities (Beasts, Trainers and Spirits) at once, but I have no idea where it would be put. :)

I often miss that pesky Water Spirit. :P

This is the solved TSP for a complete circuit of all 21 fights with no teleporting: http://i.imgur.com/EwNOFZi.png

Other than parked alts or strategic hearthstone attunement, it seems your shortest travel distance is to make two sweeps starting from Vale (NW route from Farmer Nishi, clockwise spiral from Thundering Pandaren Spirit for the rest), or [Alliance] one from Vale and two from Paw'don village. Unfortunately, the Peak of Serenity (monk teleport) does not seem to be a shortcut to any of these (the closest point is Kafi and Yon is closer).

(Anyone who would like to make a prettier graphic is welcome to do so without attribution.)

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-15 05:57:05

I've tested this now. With efficient teams, no bad crit luck, and only a little stopping to hit rares or gather, an Alliance character could battle from Shrine to Nishi to Zusshi in about 25 minutes, from Paw'don to Gorespine in about 17, from Paw'don to Nitun in about 6, and from Shrine to Whispering Pandaren Spirit in about 7. Taking four trips cuts out long flights of nothing except for the one to Mo'ruk. Incidentally, I have slow loading and it is still slightly faster to take the Dalaran portal to Shrine than it is to fly back from WPS. All in all, this takes longer than most people would want to make a daily routine even in the best of circumstances.

One good route for Horde is to pick up Beasts of Fable quests, then start with Zusshi (AFK flight path to or hearthstone at Shado-Pan Garrison / Isle of Thunder), to Nishi to Mo'ruk to Gorespine; port to Shrine, then sweep the rest starting from Thundering Pandaren Spirit.

Kilashandra wrote on 2017-01-14 12:47:18

Note that for all the tamers, except Zusshi and Beasts, you can leave a level 1 toon at the pet battle and just switch between toons. On rare occasions a hawk will come out of nowhere on the Thundering Spirit. : (

Louk wrote on 2016-10-18 04:29:54

It would be super awesome if you could add the breeds for the pets you are suggesting. The most awesome thing would be, if you made a seperate tab with various different useful pets and their best breeds. :)

Aranesh

wrote on 2016-10-18 05:16:36

Hey Louk!
Almost all my strategies (99%) do not require a specific breed :-)
I hear you, and such a guide of recommended breeds for certain pets would make perfect sense, but right now I am focusing on other goals with Xu-Fu's guides.

SomeEUPlayer wrote on 2016-09-12 22:05:12

If you have a quick port to your faction's shrine (e.g. as a Mage), you can use it after Water Spirit and Mo'ruk to get to the next trainer faster.
